So instead of cloning another slick zippered tactical backpack, we took the MOLLE II Assault Pack and rebuilt it the way we thought it should have been done from the start.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe built ours in Ranger Green instead of UCP or OCP because we wanted it to look like gear you’d actually choose to use, not leftover issue equipment.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe drag handle was redesigned and reinforced so it’s actually usable when the pack is loaded heavy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInside, we added a hook-and-loop field for velcro-backed organizers and inserts so you can configure the pack the way you want instead of digging through loose gear.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe also added two internal zippered pockets for smaller items that normally disappear into the bottom of the pack. We intentionally stayed away from mesh pockets. Being able to see what’s inside is nice right up until the mesh snags, tears, or wears out. We built these for durability first.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOne of the bigger changes is in the construction itself. Instead of using edge tape like the original packs, we removed it and double-hemmed the seams. It takes more time to build, but it holds up better long-term and eliminates some of the wear points the issued packs were known for.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStill simple. Still practical. It’s built around the size most people actually carry every day, just done with tougher materials, reinforced construction, and a layout designed around organizing gear instead of just stuffing it into one giant compartment.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBuilt entirely from USA-made materials including 1000D Cordura and YKK zippers, because cheap fabric and bargain-bin hardware are usually the first things to fail on a pack that actually gets used.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pack has three main zippered compartments.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe front compartment runs almost the full height of the bag with roughly a 10\" zipper opening and enough space for admin gear, chargers, gloves, maps, notebooks, cables, snacks, or other items you want quick access to without opening the main compartment. We intentionally kept the exterior profile clean instead of stacking oversized cargo pockets all over the front of the bag.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe secondary compartment is designed more around EDC organization. Inside is a zippered pocket along with a hook-and-loop field that accepts our organizers or other velcro-backed inserts and pouches.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe main compartment has a large hook-and-loop field designed to accept organizers, laptop sleeves, medical inserts, or whatever setup works best for your loadout. On the opposite side we added a zippered pocket and a cinch pouch to help keep smaller items from turning into a pile at the bottom of the bag.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe also added a dedicated hydration compartment with a hanger and internal sleeve to help keep the bladder upright and from bunching up while moving.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe drag handle wasn’t treated like an afterthought either. Instead of just sewing a grab handle into the top seam, the handle runs the full length of the body of the bag down into the zipper area to properly distribute the load. If the pack is overloaded, the fabric will probably fail before the handle does.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe exterior uses traditional sewn PALS webbing instead of laser-cut laminate. The front panel features 6 columns by 7 rows of webbing which pairs perfectly with our General Purpose Pouch sized around carrying an MRE. The sides each include additional PALS webbing for mounting radios, bottle pouches, medical kits, or other accessories.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe UTG DP Mk1 has gone through multiple revisions and refinements during development.
